Yashka Steiner — geometric tattoo artist, graphic designer, musician, and all-around brilliant creator— makes the trip from Geneva, Switzerland to Berkeley, California to sit with us for about twelve days. And every time, we count ourselves lucky to have him.

Who Is Yashka Steiner?

Yashka is a second-generation tattooist and graphic designer with over two decades of design experience. He’s based in Geneva but his work has taken him across Europe and back to us here time and again. His practice investigates the dialogue between geometry, symbolism, and organic forms — drawing from geometric language, Japanese visual culture, and algorithmic processes to create tattoos as living visual narratives.

Beyond tattooing, his creative practice extends into music and digital animation, exploring the interplay of sound, space, and embodiment. He’s a whole artist — and that depth shows in every piece he puts on skin.

The Way He Works

Yashka’s process is deliberate and deeply considered. He describes his approach as working against the machine — not reaching for a pen first, but meticulously thinking through every move, every line that forms a whole design.
