AFTERCARE
★ Bandage
Plastic wrap or sterile dressing: Leave on overnight. If you need to wash before bed, re-bandage with clean cling wrap to prevent sticking, drying out, and heavy scabbing.
Second skin (Saniderm/Tegaderm): Leave on overnight up to 2–4 days. It is waterproof, so you can shower normally. If it leaks, lifts, or becomes irritated, remove and wash immediately. Avoid heavy sweating or exercise while wearing it. If an absorbent pad was used, it may collect fluid for the first 4–10 hours. Remove if irritation occurs.
★ Washing
Always wash hands before touching your tattoo. Use a fragrance-free soap with warm water and gently clean until all plasma/slime is removed. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
★ General Care
Do not re-bandage after removal. Avoid tight clothing, jewelry, or friction on the area. Do not scratch or pick. The tattoo may itch during healing; use a small amount of lotion to relieve it.
Wash once or twice daily for 1–2 weeks. The tattoo may feel tight, dry, or itchy — this is normal.
★ Water & Environment
Do not soak your tattoo for 2 weeks. No baths, hot tubs, pools, oceans, or lakes. Showers are fine.
Avoid dirty environments such as gyms, beaches, or gardening, and avoid direct contact with animals during this time.
★ Lotion
You may not need lotion the first day or two. Start when the tattoo feels dry or tight.
Use a very small amount of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 as your primary option. Apply a thin layer and wipe off excess. Do not over-apply.
Other acceptable options: Cetaphil, CeraVe, Lubriderm.
Dr. Bronner's Baby (unscented) is the preferred soap. Do NOT use antibacterial soap.
Avoid: petroleum products (Aquaphor, Vaseline, A&D), fragrance, alcohol, retinol, AHA, lavender, calendula, or aloe until fully healed.
★ Medical Attention
If you notice excessive redness, swelling, pain, red streaks, fever, or pus, seek medical care. These may be signs of infection.
